Who We Are

The National Currency Foundation (aka NC Foundation or NCF) was established in June of 2011 as a New York State Charitable Organization. Application for IRS non-profit status is currently under review. We strive to educate the public, the novice and advanced collector, and career numismatists. We are putting several resources at our members’ disposal: Web-based displays and exhibits prepared by currency collectors and dealers; Live exhibits at selected major currency shows; reprints and original written works on the subject; The National Bank Note Census. We are also very proud to announce that we will be publishing (on line) The Encyclopedia of National Bank Notes, by Peter Huntoon. This latest work is 2,500 pages with illustrations.

What We Do

The central mission of the NCF is to promote the field of numismatics, in particular the collecting of paper money. This includes, but is not limited to, National Bank Notes (large and small), Type Notes (large and small), Fractional Notes, Obsolete Notes, Early American Notes (e.g., Colonial and Continental), Military Payment Certificates, Proofs of any of the above notes. We also provide educational and research resources for the general public, collectors, and dealers in the field, and house the latest incarnation of the Hickman Project.

Bank Note Census
